What is the best anti-wrinkle cream?

This is Dr. James C. Warnell, MD. I run my own practice and have many middle-aged to elderly patients. I get asked, "What is the best anti-wrinkle cream?" all the time. And there really is a clear-cut answer, once you put the time and effort in to research and analyze the results.

I started this blog as an easy, free way to publish the outcome of a study I conducted with some of my patients. We wanted some hard facts on anti-wrinkle cream, and once we got them, we wanted to share this information with others. So, without wasting anymore time, let's get down to business!

Anti-wrinkle Options
As a doctor, I see many patients who ask me, "What is the best way to prevent the effects of aging?" My first response is always - "NOT BOTOX!" There is nothing more insane than injecting a paralyzing poison into your face. Not to mention the high cost of Botox (+$1,000 per treatment).

What about surgery? Well, if you have no qualms about going under the knife and having your face peeled back, go right ahead. I have always, both personally and professionally, had a nagging distaste for plastic surgeons and the lies they propogate to their patients. Yes, a facelift may help you look better for a few years, but you will have to undergo future surgeries or you risk looking worse than you would have under natural circumstances. Not to mention the chance of permanent nerve damage that can result from a facelift.

Details of this study

This leaves the consumer with a choice between anti-wrinkle creams. There are many on the market, but most fall short with their extravagant claims and lackluster results.

I have taken the time to test the 3 most popular products on the market today. I used 12 willing participants, all women over 45, and each were given a sample of the different brands for an 8 week period. I then waited 3 months before testing a new product, to ensure accurate results. Below you will find my review of these products, along with the brand I now recommend to my patients.

Hydroderm Wrinkle Reducer and Renewal Moisturizer
This is far and away the most sought after product on the market today, and with good reason. After the first visit a positive change was noted - not only did wrinkles appear smoother and less intrusive, but the skin was softer and gentler to the touch. This is a direct effect of the excellent Renewal Moisturizer. No stinging or burning was reported, and patients found the fragrance to be pleasant and non-invasive.

Every single one of the study participants raved about Hydroderm, and continually compared the following products to it. Overall, the patients felt better about themselves and their appearance after use of Hydroderm. Many expressed to me that they would rather just end the study here and get their free 1 year supply now.

My Rating: 9/10
Patient Rating: 10/10

CellaDerm Anti-Wrinkle Cream
Celladerm uses their patented PHA (Polyhydroxy acid), gluconolactone. These are a group of naturally occurring, non-toxic substances and related compounds whose therapeutic effects are similar to alpha hydroxyacids (AHAs). No stinging or burning was reported from use of this product, and exposure to the sun did not cause any problems with this brand.

Patients reported back after the first week with mixed results. While some had already noticed significant changes, many felt this product took a little bit longer than Hydroderm to begin working. However, at the end of the testing period patients stated that this product had certainly enhanced the appearance of their face, and many felt completely exhilirated at this point in the study.

My Rating: 8/10
Patient Rating: 8/10

Deception Wrinkle Reducer
This exhilaration would not last long, as the final product we tested left a sour taste for them. Wrinkles are Gone was included in the test simply because of its popularity, but even before beginning I already had my doubts. This product warns of direct exposure to sun, and patients complained of a slight stinging sensation after applying the cream. To me, this is unacceptable and separates it from the other quality products.

As far as results go, this product failed to deliver. It not only didn't lift and rejuvenate much at all, but some patients felt after a couple of weeks it actaully had dried their skin out considerably. Definitely not recommended.

My Rating: 4/10
Patient Rating: 3/10

So what is the bottom line?
All 12 people who participated in this project recieved a one year's supply of the cream of their choice. Eleven of the twelve chose Hydroderm, with the other participant opting for the Celladerm. She cited her distaste for the fragrance of the Hydroderm Renewal Moisturizer. In fact, this moisturizer is not a vital component to the Hydroderm Cream, but is actually a bonus addition to an already excellent treatment.

Well, I think the results speak for themselves. If you are serious about getting rid of unsightly wrinkles, the Hydroderm package is the right choice for you. They are offering a free 30 day trial, you just have to pay the $3.95 shipping and handling fee. Both other reviewed companies are offering a trial as well, although the value is significantly less (for example, Celladerm offers a 7 day trial for $8.95).

The choice is up to you - if you want to reduce wrinkles and signs of aging on your face, the opportunity for a very inexpensive trial is available. Don't let the effects of aging prevent you from living life to its fullest. Anti-wrinkle creams provide a safe, easy way to rejuvenate and reinvigorate your face. Take advantage of this opportunity!

Sincerely,

Dr. James C. Warnell, MD
